The itinerary, which lasts 11 days, is ideal for gradual acclimatization as one gains altitude. The famed Markha Valley is home to the Kang Yatse summit. The hike follows the same path as the approach to Markha Valley for the most part. As a result, this journey provides a buy one, get one free deal. During the early days of acclimatization, one can tour the cultural treasures, monasteries, and gompas of Leh. You will gain height while passing through small villages and obtain an understanding of Ladakhi culture. Teahouses and traditional homestays can be found at every camping site. Skui, Markha, Nimling, Hankar, and other large hamlets pass through. All of this perfectly captures the idyllic scene of modest homes hidden by massive mountains. You will meet varied scenery, from desert terrains to bright grazing fields, from little streams to the vivacious Markha river.
Kang Yatse is the ideal choice for people looking for a less congested 6000-meter peak than Stok Kangri. Only experienced hikers should attempt this trek. This walk requires both physical and mental preparation.
The Route of the Summit
The conventional path ascends the mountain's north side, along the western ridge. Ascend as high as you can on the moraine, then diagonally across the snow slope to the top ridge. Then take this ridge all the way to the forepeak (6200m). The main summit is fairly technical, so most people turn around at this point. Continue up the knife-edge to the main summit if you want to (6400m). To reach the main top, you will need a lot of rock and ice protection. From basecamp to basecamp, it might take anywhere from 7 to 12 hours. Because the snow softens as the sun shines, an early start (2 a.m.) is required. If you want to start later, ascend to the advanced base camp, which is around 5400m.

Acclimatisation in Leh
Another day is completely to acclimate to the freezing weather or to explore Leh! It is recognized for its monasteries and palaces, in addition to its adventures and strange scenery. Few famous attractions like The Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, and Thiksey Gompa will help you understand Leh’s ancient history and past. Thousands of adventure seekers or tourists can be found in Leh during peak season. To obtain a feel for the culture, try to interact with everyone. Leh is well-known for its cafes and hangout spots. You are welcome to try them if you so desire. Again, alcohol and smoking should be avoided at all costs. Aside from its cultural heritage, Leh is known for its passes and lakes, including Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake. We do not allow trekkers to go to such places on their own. This is to avoid putting unnecessary effort on the body, which could stymie the acclimatization process. As a result, avoid moving to higher elevations and instead walk to neighbouring locations.

Leh to Chilling & Trek to Skiu
The journey from Leh to Chilling is like entering an ocean of bleak, reddish-yellow Himalayan landscapes. The significant sites Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and Spituk Monastery will quaintly welcome you in the first half of the journey. As you walk along your own path, you will pass by the quiet and lively Magnetic Hill. You will reach the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers oversights of colour shifting rocks and parched grasslands. Chilling is a prominent Leh town that serves as a base camp for winter Chadar expeditions and summer river rafting. The journey begins with a difficult ascent via the Zingchen Gorge. At Kaya-Do, you will also be able to cross the river on a trolley. The trail crosses the Indus River several times. Skiu will be the first time tent camping has been done. It is at the confluence of the Shgri Nala and Markha rivers. There are about 10-15 dwellings in the village. They are also great for tea breaks and homestays. There is also a historic monastery in the environment. End the first day of your walk at Skui, excited for the adventures ahead.

Day 4
Skui to Markha
The Kang Yatse walk has the advantage of perfectly overlapping with the Markha valley. As a result, you can brag about completing the Markha valley hike. Today is your chance to see the Markha Valley. This will be the longest day of hiking, with a total distance of 20 kilometres. On this somewhat lengthy day, you will be greeted by three to four communities and their revitalizing hot tea. Harding, the first such village, is reached after 2 hours of climbing. Continue going for another 2-3 hours till you arrive in Chalak settlement. It is nestled amongst the barley fields, with the mountains in the distance. Have another cup of tea to re-energize yourself for the remainder of the journey. The next camping spot is at Markha village, which is around 5-6 kilometres away. Despite this, the steep ascent to Markha Valley will take 2-3 hours. The Markha River has a strong stream, and you will have to cross it. Depending on the amount of snowfall, the river level could reach knee height. Because it includes roughly 30-40 dwellings, the Markha valley is considered the largest. There are ruins of a fort for anyone interested in history. There is also an old monastery, which is thought to have been built in the 1800s. Walking through the village and interacting with the residents while sipping hot tea is a must.

Get up bright and early, because today's hike will be a breeze. The upcoming trail crosses streams and the Markha River multiple times, providing a welcome break. Umlung hamlet is a small settlement on the route that can be identified by buildings and a monastery. After Umlung, the Kang Yatse peak emerges into view and continues to beckon you! The next brief break place will be Hankar village. The Tacha monastery, which has been cleverly positioned at such a height, can be seen. Hankar also serves as a camping ground where visitors can spend the night. From Hankar, follow the well-marked trail to a stone bridge. There are numerous exits, yet you continue on the same path. The grasslands of Thochungtse will be visible in the following two hours. There are camping areas and tea establishments in this area. Make yourself at home among the gorgeous grasslands and take a break for the day.

The journey will pass via Mystic Mani stones with prayer inscriptions. Recite the devotional prayers and wish for a magnificent summit. Twin Tigu lakes will welcome you. The beautiful Kang Yatse summit is reflected in these little lakes. The trails lead to a vast Nimling plain, which is home to sheep, mountain goats, and occasionally rabbits. Nimling is known for its grazing pastures and will be your camping destination. The whole thing is very relaxing and contemplative.

You will reach your base camp at 5,100 meters in about 2-3 hours. To get acclimatized, make sure you stay out of the tent. At the camping site, try not to overwork yourself and rest. This is a day that has been strategically provided to help you acclimate to the high elevations. This might be viewed as a day of training. Our experts will provide instruction on how to use technological equipment. You will learn how to walk in the snow, how to use crampons, how to use an ice axe and other essential skills for the summit attempt. Try to absorb as much as possible. Try not to become too exhausted while doing so, as the next day will be the summit day. The lovely Kang Yatse Mountain will be staring at you the entire time. You might also go for a hike in the area to gain height. Make sure your body gets enough rest before attempting the summit. Keep your summit day backpack minimal and easy to carry. You will have dinner early so you can get up at midnight for the final ascent. As a result, attempt to go to bed early in order to have a good night's sleep.

Day 9
Summit (KANG YATSE II) to Base Camp
And now comes the most thrilling day of the year! We will begin the summit push at midnight and aim to get at the top by 6 a.m. for a glistering sunrise. For the challenging hike, bring a packed lunch, drinks, and plenty of water. Today you will climb from 5100 meters to 6200 meters in a straight line. As a result, mental toughness is crucial. The famed Kang Yatse shoulder is used to reach the peak. The trail begins with a section of loose moraine and scree. It is difficult to keep one's foot on the trail because of loose rocks. For added support, use a trekking pole. The approach upwards has crevasses that are usually covered in snow. Depending on the amount of snowfall, you may need to rope up for safety. Be cautious and keep a close eye on your surroundings. The route follows the north face of the mountain, passing via the northwest ridge on its way to a rocky outcropping. After a long ascent to the summit, you will be rewarded with 360-degree views of the Zanskar range, Karakoram peaks, and mountains surrounding Kang Yatse. You may also notice the K2 peak (the world's second-highest mountain). The faraway Tibet Mountains may also be visible. The views are wonderfully satisfying and will give you all the energy you need to climb down. The entire peak trail is 5 kilometres long in each direction. When retracing your route, be mindful of the scree and moraines. To minimize more problems caused by the weather, make sure you return from the summit by 1 p.m. After the gruelling summit attempt, return to base camp to relax.

Day 10
Trek from Base Camp to Chokdo via Kongmaru La & drive to Leh
Here comes the final day to bid goodbye to the summit. Begin to return home with contentment and happiness. This day is a bonus because it allows me to appreciate the rewarding mountains once more. The route takes you through the highest pass in the area, the Kongmaru La. After a two-hour ascent to Kongmaru La pass, the Karakoram range and its impressive array of peaks will greet you. Hold your breath as you gaze up to the massive K2 Mountain, the world's second-highest peak. Prayer flags are fluttering in the breeze. Surprisingly, the pass provides a reliable network connection. A further 5-6 hour journey will get you to Chokdo. There is a steep fall and rocky terrain in the route. It will show you the wonderful aspect of the freezing desert as you trek across the Indus and Ladhak valleys. This day might go a bit different from the one spent before. Today you will have mixed emotions: the grief that the walk is coming to an end and satisfaction that you have completed the trek. The beauty of the Indus Valley and the Ladakh range varies dramatically as the trek progresses. This is the final stop on the hike, and it also features a lot of homestays. Look back and try to fill the key elements of Ladakh that you have just experienced in your mind while remembering the Kang Yatse II trip. Your pick-up car will transport you all the way to Leh.
